Zihuatanejo, Feb. 12 - 26, 2011 : We first visited the Zihuatanejo - Ixtapa area in January 1989, 22 years ago. We've only missed going down there three times, making this our 19th visit. Needless to say we, like so many others have fallen in love with the place. Over the years we've made many new friends...residents, those who live there year 'round and others who come back the same time we do. The weather is great, the sights beautiful and, as you'll see, there's lots of wildlife. But, it's the friendly people we meet that keeps us going back.

Millie's Girls, Ruby & Tuffy : During the week, Millie takes care of two Basset Hounds, Tuffy and Ruby. Tuffy lives across the street from us and Ruby is just half a block down Tuffy's alley. Millie picks up Tuffy and they go to Ruby's house where they play together for an hour or so. Millie started making costumes for the dogs a few years ago. Here's a selection of some of her creations. The "girls" have gotten very patient about fittings and then the photo shoots of the finished costume.

Calendar Girls : After a few years of making costumes for "the girls", Millie thought a good use for some of the many pictures we've taken would be to create a calendar, using appropriate themes for each month. We uploaded the selected shots to an online printing site and they returned a fantastic looking calendar, printed on heavy stock with a glossy finish. We had one made for each of the dog's owners and of course one for us. Here's the photos we selected for each month.

43rd Ave. Pumpkin Carving-2011

The Adirondacks And Our Trip There. : October 1, 2011, Millie and I set out to visit my daughter Lisa and her husband Gary at their house in Northern New York. Their place is just west of the Adirondacks, so we had close access to lots of scenic areas. To make the trip more memorable, we took the northern loop through Canada, then down to New York. Hope you enjoy some of the pictures we took along the way.

Lynn Briley's Memorial : Here are some of the pictures taken at the memorial for our classmate, Lynn Briley. It was held at the Indian Creek Country Club on October 13, 2012. Most of the pictures were taken by my sister, Becky Irish. I used two different group pictures as all the pictures taken had at least two people covered up by someones head. With these two everyone in the group can be seen in one picture or the other.

2013 Basset Calendar : For over six years, Millie has been taking care of a pair a Basset Hounds, Ruby and Tuffy. Tuffy lived right across the street from us and Ruby just down the alley from Tuffy's house. It started as just going over once during the day and letting them out. She'd alternate yards and the "girls" would get to play with each other for an hour or so. A few years ago it became trips to the dog park and Millie's car is now the Basset Limo. Millie also started haveing fun making costumes for them and after a while the calendar evolved. Here's the pictures used for the 2013 calendar. We have three copies made, one for each family and of course one for us.
